Planktonic larva characteristic of crustaceans. Artemias nauplies, as well as those of (smaller) cyclops are used for the food of fry.
The term "nauplords" designates a stage of development of crustaceans, such as shrimp and freshwater shrimps, as well as copépods and mysids. Nauplies are aquatic larvae which have an elongated shape and a well developed head.
The Nauplies come from the egg and develop in several stages of metamorphosis, each called "stadie". The first stage of crustaceans development is called "Nautle".
Nauplies generally have 3 pairs of legs and a rudimentary shell, which will develop as they grow. They also have antennas and mandibles, which allow them to eat. Nauplies are generally very active and move by swimming thanks to their legs.
Nauplies need adequate living conditions to develop properly. They need good lighting, good water circulation and a diet suitable for their development stage. If the living conditions are optimal, the Nauplies can develop rapidly and reach the next step in their metamorphosis, called "protomer".
It is important to note that the Nauplies are very fragile and that it is difficult to raise them in aquarophilia. However, some experienced aquariophiles manage to raise nauplics by using specific techniques and providing adequate living conditions. If you wish to raise shippingy, it is recommended to find out about experienced people or to consult specialized guides.
