Brittanichthys myersi (MYERS BLOOD TETRA)
Description
Brittanichthys Myersi is a fish from the Cyprinidae family, originally from the México region. It is a freshwater fish that can measure up to 15 centimeters in length. It has an elongated and side -compressed body, with a wide head and a terminal mouth. Its color varies from gray to dark brown, with dark spots on the sides and a white strip along the side line.
Brittanichthys Myersi is a gregarious fish that lives in compact groups in the shallow waters of rivers and streams. It feeds mainly on aquatic insects, crustaceans and small fish. It reproduces during the rainy season, when river waters are higher and rich in food.
Unfortunately, the Brittanichthys Myersi is a endangered species due to water pollution and the destruction of its natural habitat. Overfishing and illegal capture for trade also contribute to its decline. Conservation efforts to protect this species and restore its populations are therefore important.
