Brycinus schoutedeni (Brycinus with grand scales)
Description
Brycinus Schoutedeni is a freshwater fish from the Congo River region in Africa. It is a fairly small fish, generally measuring between 10 and 15 cm in length. Its color varies from silver to dark brown, with dark stripes along its body. Its head is rather wide and flattened, with eyes on the side of the body. His mouth is small and narrow, suitable for grasping small prey.
Brycinus Schoutedeni is a background fish, that is to say that it spends most of its time at the bottom of the water in search of food. It feeds mainly on small crustaceans and aquatic insects. Like many freshwater fish, it is omnivorous, that is to say that it eats both plants and animals.
Brycinus Schoutedeni is a gregarious fish, that is to say he lives in groups with other individuals of his species. These groups can count up to several dozen fish, and they move together in benches to look for food. When they feel threatened, fish of this kind can get into ball to protect themselves from predators.
Due to its small size and group life, Brycinus Schoutedeni is a relatively little threatened fish in the wild. However, like many aquatic species, it can be affected by water pollution and changes in its natural habitat. It is therefore important to preserve aquatic ecosystems to ensure the survival of this species and others like it.
