Description

The general shade of the body is partially striped orange yellow with bright orange -red vertical streaks. A black spot masks part of the eye and cheek. The soft part of the dorsal and anal fins is orange, bordered with yellow.

The semilating chaetodon is a fish from the family of Chaetodontidae, also known as the western reef fish. He is from the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, where he is mainly found in the warm and tropical waters of coral reefs.

This fish has an average size of about 20 cm, with an elongated and oval body. Its color is mainly gray, with black and yellow stripes that cover its body, as well as blue spots on its head and fins. Its caudal fin is also lined with yellow and black bands.

The semilating chaetodon is a gregarious fish that lives in a group, often in the company of other pupil fish. It feeds mainly on plankton and other microscopic organisms which it filters water using its gills.
