Corydoras Julii is a freshwater fish commonly known as Julii's catfish due to its resemblance to domestic cats. It measures about 5 centimeters long and has an elongated body with smooth and shiny scales. Its color varies from light brown to dark gray with black spots spread over the whole body. Corydoras Julii also has a clear band that crosses the eye, which gives it an expressive aspect.

Julii's catfish is from rivers and streams in Amazon, South America. It lives in small groups and can be found in shallow and quiet waters, often in the presence of abundant vegetation. Corydoras Julii is a gregarious and peaceful fish that can be heard well with other species of fish.

Julii's catfish is a background fish that spends most of its time searching the ground looking for food. It feeds mainly on small insects, molluscs and crustaceans, although it can also eat algae and leftover food. Corydoras Julii is an opportunistic omnivorous fish that will easily adapt to a varied diet in the aquarium.

Julii's catfish is a robust and easy-to-maintain fish, making it a popular choice for beginners aquarophiles. It requires an aquarium of at least 20 liters with good filtration and a gravel substrate to be able to dig and hide. Corydoras Julii also appreciates the presence of plants and hiding places to feel safe. It is important to maintain clean and oxygenated water so that Julii's catfish can live in good conditions.

In captivity, Julii's catfish can live up to five years if it is well maintained. It is an easy reproductive fish and it is common to see couples of julii jani fish mating and laying eggs in the aquarium. The eggs hatch in a few days and the fry can be fed with artemias nauplies until they are large enough to eat stronger foods.

Reproduction

Difficult to obtain but possible in very soft water (5 ° DGH) preferably filtered on peat. To stimulate the laying, the fish are almost essentially nourished by small living or frozen prey (artemias, mosquito larvae). The bin substrate is furniture (for example luscious peat). Reproduction can be carried out by isolating a couple, or even within a group. The eggs are glued on any support (windows, filters, etc.). The little ones are born four days later. Their breeding is not a problem because they accept artemias nauplies from the free swim.
