Cynolebias bokermani (Cynolebias Bokermani)

Adult size5 cm

Description

Cynolebias Bokermani fish is a freshwater fish belonging to the Rivulidae family. He is from hydrographic basins of the Cerrado region in Brazil. The body of this fish is elongated and compressed laterally, with a blue-gray color on the top and white-money on the belly. It can reach about 4 centimeters in length.

The dorsal and anal fins are short and located at the back of the body. The caudal fin is branched off, while the pectoral and pelvic fins are small and located on the sides of the body. Cynolebias Bokermani fish has a single pair of barbels, which are mustache -shaped appendages located near the mouth and used to detect vibrations and movements in the water.

Cynolebias Bokermani fish is mainly a lonely fish, but it can sometimes be found in small groups in dense vegetation areas of shallow and not very common rivers in the Cerrado region. It feeds mainly on small invertebrates found in its habitat, such as crustaceans, insects and molluscs.

Cynolebias Bokermani fish is an oviparous fish, that is to say that it lays eggs rather than giving birth to small living. Reproduction generally occurs during rain periods, when water levels increase and living conditions are favorable. Females lay their eggs in herbs and aquatic plants, where they are protected from predators and water fluctuations. The eggs hatch about a week later, giving birth to small fish called fry.

Due to its small size and limited distribution in the Cerrado region in Brazil, Cynolebias Bokermani is not considered to be threatened with extinction. However, it is vulnerable to the disturbances of its habitat caused by human activity, such as deforestation, water pollution and the modification of watercourses. Therefore, it is important to preserve the region's aquatic ecosystems to ensure long -term survival of this unique and interesting fish.
