The Danio RERIO is a freshwater fish commonly known as zebra tetradon or zebra fish. It belongs to the Cyprinidae family and is from India and Bangladesh. It is a popular aquarophilia fish because of its relatively small size, its bright color and its active behavior.
The Danio Red is a gregarious fish, which means that it tends to live in a group. It can reach a length of 6 cm for males and 4 cm for females. Their body is elongated and flat, with a dorsal fin, a caudal fin and a pair of pelvic fins. Their color is generally blue or green, with longitudinal black stripes on their body.
In terms of behavior, the Danio Red is a very active and social fish. He likes to swim at different depths and quickly move into water. It feeds mainly on small crustaceans, insects and algae, although it can also eat flakes and pellets specially formulated for aquarium fish.
Due to their small size and active behavior, zebra tetradons are often kept in aquarium in the company of other freshwater fish such as Guppys, Mollys and Platies.
