Dascyllus aruanus (White -tail)

Dascyllus aruanus (White -tail)

Description

The stocky body, high and laterally tablet, is decorated with 3 black, vertical, very wide strips. Between these strips appears a brilliant silver white background color. All the fins are tinged with black, with the exception of the caudal which is entirely white.

The Dascyllus Aruanus fish is a reef fish commonly known as three-stroke three-stains clownfish. It is a kind of fish from the Pomaccentridae family, which also includes other species known as clowns fish. The three-band clownfish is native to the warm and shallow waters of the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, where he lives in coral reefs.

The three-band clownfish is generally gray or brown in color with three distinct transverse strips, one on the head, one around the caudal fin and one around the dorsal fin. The color of the bands can vary, but they are often white or yellow. The three-band clown fish has an oval and slender shape, with a relatively thin body and a sharp head. The caudal fin is in the shape of a spindle and the dorsal fin is high and erect. The pectoral and pelvic fins are relatively short and wide.

The three-band clown fish is generally small, measuring about 7.5 centimeters in length for adult individuals. However, some specimens can reach a length of 11.5 centimeters. The three-band clownfish is generally lonely and territorial, but you can sometimes find it in small groups in coral reefs.

The three-band clown fish is mainly feeding on plankton, small crustaceans and molluscs, which it captures by filtering water through its gills. The three-band clownfish is also known to maintain symbiotic relationships with other species, such as sea anemones, with which it shares its habitat. The three-band clownfish protects itself from predators by hiding in the anemones, where it is protected by the stinging tentacles of the latter.

The three-band clownfish is a popular fish in the aquarophilia, due to its bright color and its curious and interactive personality. However, it is important to note that clowns are sensitive to changes in their environment and can be difficult to keep in captivity.
