Dunkerocampus dactyliophorus (Zebra sea needle)
Description
Dunkerocampus typing, also known as the Pipeau Dactyliophore fish, is a fish from the Syngnathidae family, which also includes clownfish and time fish. It is native to the warm and shallow waters of the Indonesian islands and is often considered a fish of reefs. Dunkirocampus typing is characterized by its small size, generally measuring only a few centimeters long, and by its dark brown or grayish color with lighter transverse strips.
Dactyliophore pipeau fish is also recognizable by its elongated and tubular head, which allows it to easily vacuum small animals and foods in the sand and crevices of the reefs. This tubular head is also used to "make noise" by inflating and deflating your throat, which can be used to attract sexual partners or repel predators.
Dunkerocampus dactylophorus generally lives lonely or in small groups in the shallow and coastal waters of coral reefs, where it is mainly feeding on small crustaceans, invertebrates and algae.
