Hemichromis bimaculatus (Cichlid jewel)

Hemichromis bimaculatus (Cichlid jewel)

Description

Its back is gray-brown, its sides are greenish yellow and the orange-red ventral region. 3 dark spots are distributed over the body. The first in terms of the lids, the second is placed on the sides and the last punctuates the Caudal pedicle. They are more or less distinct depending on the mood or the breeding conditions of this species. The dark red iris is bordered by a golden yellow listed. The flanks and the entire ventral region become intense red and a multitude of steel blue dots enhance this red shade during the Frai.

The bimaculatus hemichromis is a freshwater fish commonly known as two spots. It is a fish from the cichlid family, originally from West Africa.

The bimaculatus hemichromis is a medium -sized fish, generally measuring between 10 and 15 cm long. Its most striking characteristic is the presence of two black spots on his body, one on the head and the other on the caudal fin. These spots are particularly visible on green individuals, but can be less visible on red or yellow fish.

Bimaculatus hemichromis has a life expectancy of around 5 years in captivity. It is a territorial and aggressive fish, which can be hostile to other fish if it feels threatened or if it seeks to defend its territory. Due to its aggressive behavior, it is recommended not to put it in a community aquarium with other species of fish.

Bimaculatus hemichromis is an omnivorous fish that feeds on various species of insects, crustaceans and aquatic plants. In captivity, it can be nourished with commercial foods such as freshwater fish pellets and fish flakes. It is important to provide him with a balanced diet to ensure good health.

The bimaculatus hemichromis is a very popular aquarophilia fish, partly because of its bright color and its distinctive spots. It is a robust and easy to maintain fish, but it should be put in a sufficient aquarium to allow it to move freely and avoid conflicts with other fish. In general, it is recommended to provide an aquarium of at least 200 liters to accommodate a bimaculatus hemichromis.
