Hypogymnogobius xanthozona (Hypogymnogobius)
Description
Intraspecific: good, but territorial, likes to live in a group. Interspecific: excellent, as long as fish have no veiled fins.
Hypogymnogobius xanthonona fish is a fish from the Gobiidae family, which is mainly found in rivers and coastal marshes in the Pacific region of Japan. It is a small fish, generally measuring between 4 and 6 cm in length. Its color varies from gray to dark brown, with orange or yellow spots on the body and fins. Hypogymnogobius xanthozona fish has an elongated and lateral compressed body, with a flattened head and prominent ventral fins which allow it to easily move into the muddy bottoms of rivers and marshes where it lives.
Hypogymnogobius xanthonona fish is mainly a background fish that feeds on small insects, crustaceans and other invertebrates which it finds in the sandy bottoms of rivers and marshes. He is also able to feed on aquatic plants and microorganisms. Hypogymnogobius xanthozona fish is generally lonely and territorial, although it can sometimes be observed in groups in habitats rich in food.
Hypogymnogobius xanthonona fish is considered a relatively unusual species in its natural distribution area, although it is not considered threatened with extinction. However, like many other species of freshwater fish, it is likely to be affected by the disturbances of the habitat caused by humans, such as pollution and destruction of natural habitats. Due to its small size and attractive color, the Hypogymnogobius xanthozona fish is also often captured to be sold as a pet.
