Description

This huge fish is a pleco that looks like an ancistrus but when it grows we can see that it is a huge leopard pleco.

The Hypostomus grandiosus fish is a background fish from the Loricariidae family. He is from South America, where he lives mainly in the calm and shallow waters of rivers and Creeks. It is characterized by its large size, up to 30 cm, and by its gray or brown dress with darker spots on the body. His mouth is located at the bottom of his head, allowing him to eat by scraping the bottom of the waters.

Hypostomus grandiosus fish is a lonely animal that meets only for reproduction. It feeds mainly on algae and aquatic plants, but it can also eat insects and crustaceans. Her sex life is quite complex, with behaviors of nuptial parade and developed parental care. The females lay their eggs on the submerged leaves and branches, and the males then take care of eggs and fry until they are independent.

Hypostomus grandiosus fish is an animal adapted to life in fresh water, and it cannot survive in salt waters. It is also sensitive to variations in temperature and water quality, and it is therefore important to maintain a stable environment for him in the aquarium. Although it is fairly easy to maintain, it is recommended that beginners learn properly before acquiring a Hypostomus grandiosus fish.
