Description

It is a brown fish. It has a very small dorsal fins including the largest toothed radius.

Macrorhamphomosus Scoopax fish is a sea fish commonly known as "duck beak". It is dark gray in color, with irregular black spots on the body and a dark strip along the side line. Its shape is lengthened and slender, with a sharp muzzle that looks like a duck beak from where it takes its name. Fish generally reaches a maximum size of 30 cm, although some specimens can reach up to 40 cm.

The MacRorhamphosus Scoopax fish is an opportunistic predator that feeds mainly on small fish and crustaceans. It has the particularity of being able to sink into the sand to hide and wait for its prey, thanks to its modified pectoral fins which allow it to dig into the sand.

The MacRorhamphosus Scoopax fish is widespread in the coastal waters of the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. It is often found in shallow waters near coral reefs and lagoons, where it hides in the sand to hunt its prey.

MacRorhamphosus Scoopax fish is considered to be a common fish and is not threatened with extinction. It is not particularly sought after by professional fishermen, although some amateur fishermen can capture it for pleasure. MacRorhamphosus Scoopax fish is generally considered to be a harmless fish for humans and does not constitute a threat to bathers.
