Nemateleotris decora (Nemateleotris Decora)
Description
Nemateleotris Decora fish is a freshwater fish native to warm and shallow waters of the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea. It measures on average between 5 and 6 cm in length and has an elongated and gray shape, with a relatively small head and a bifurcated caudal fin. Its color varies according to its environment and its state of stress, but it is generally from a silver gray to dark blue, with black and white vertical stripes on the sides and a bright yellow caudal fin.
Nemateleotris Decora fish is mainly active at night and feeds mainly on small crustaceans, invertebrates and plankton. It tends to live in groups and can be observed gathering around food sources or objects that offer them a shelter.
Nemateleotris Decora fish is often considered an ornamental fish because of its beauty and its bright color, and is commonly raised in aquariums. However, it can be difficult to keep in captivity due to its water and water temperature requirements. It is also sensitive to diseases and parasites, especially under unfavorable aquarium conditions.
Due to its limited natural habitat and popularity as an ornamental fish, Nemateleotris Decora fish is considered a species threatened in certain parts of its distribution area. Conservation efforts are underway to protect the species and avoid its extinction.
