Description

Pterophyllum Altum fish is an aquarium fish from the Amazon region of South America. It is a gregarious fish which is naturally found in the calm and shallow waters of rivers and lakes. It is also known as the Angel or Angelian fish in the Amazon because of its slender shape and its delicate fins.

Pterophyllum altum fish is about 12 to 15 cm in length and is silver gray in color with vertical black strips on its body. Its caudal fin is bifid, that is to say that it is divided into two distinct parts, which allows it to maneuver quickly in the water. Angel fish also has long pectoral fins which allow it to maintain its balance in water.

Angel is an omnivorous fish that feeds mainly on small insects, crustaceans and aquatic plants in its natural environment. In aquarium, it is recommended to give it a varied diet composed of pellets for fish, living mosquitoes and vegetables.

Angel is a peaceful and territorial fish. It tends to live in small groups and to dispute the best breeding areas in the aquarium. To offer him a comfortable environment, it is important to provide him with a fairly large aquarium (at least 100 liters) with plants and hiding places to allow him to hide and rest.
