Pygocentrus piraya (Piranha Piraya)

Description

"orange yellow flames on the body and striped adipose fins

Pygocentrus Piraya fish is a river predator in South America, belonging to the SerrasalMidae family. It is a robust fish, elongated, with a wide head and a gaping mouth filled with pointed teeth. Its skin is covered with thick scales, and it has a well -developed dorsal fin as well as a smaller anal fin. Its coloring varies from dark gray to brown with dark stripes on the body, which allows it to blend into its environment.

The Piraya Pygocentrus is a lonely fish that lives in the shallow waters of rivers and lakes from South America, mainly in Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay. It is an opportunistic animal that feeds on fish, crustaceans, molluscs and everything it can find in the water, including other pirayas. He hunts by hiding in the rocks and roots of submerged trees, and attacks his prey by surprising them with impressive speed and agility.

The Piraya Pygocentrus is a very voracious fish and can be very aggressive towards other fish. This is why he is often considered a harmful in the regions where he lives, because he can disrupt the ecosystem by destroying local fish populations. However, it is also appreciated by fishermen for its delicious flesh and by aquariophiles for its spectacular appearance. Unfortunately, the overfishing and destruction of its habitat have led to a reduction in its population in certain regions, and it is today considered a vulnerable species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.
