Thayeria boehlkei (Penguin fish)
Description
The swimming of this fish is characteristic, it evolves, the body in an oblique position, the head directed upwards. A longitudinal black band adorns the sides, and extends to the lower lobe of the caudal fin.
The Thayeria Boehlkei fish is an aquarium fish commonly known as "neon papillon fish". He is part of the Characidae family and is from the alternative waters of South America, in particular the Amazon basin.
This fish is small, with an average length of 3 to 4 centimeters. It has an elongated and slender shape, with a caudal booster in the shape of a sail which gives it the appearance of a flying butterfly. Its coloring is also spectacular, with a shiny blue base covered with yellow and orange bands lively along its body.
Neon-papillon fish is a gregarious and peaceful fish, making it an excellent companion for other aquarium fish. They like to swim in benches, chasing each other and hiding behind the plants and decorations of the aquarium. They are also active and can be seen frequently walking around the aquarium and exploring their environment.
Neon-papillon fish needs a good size aquarium to feel comfortable, with enough space to swim freely. They also like to have plants and roots immersed in the aquarium to hide and feel safe. Regarding diet, neon papillon fish is an omnivorous eater and will feed on almost everything that is offered to it, including pellets, flakes and living foods such as artemias.
Neon papillon fish is an easy-to-maintain fish and can be an excellent choice for people starting in the aquarophilia. With a little attention and adequate care, these fish can live up to five years in captivity.
