Trichogaster trichopterus (Three spots, blue gourami)
Description
The ventral fins are reduced to very long filaments reaching the caudal fin. The anal fin, underdeveloped but very long, begins in front of the abdominal region and ends at the base of the Caudal pedicle. The bodily coloring is olive green, with silver reflections. 2 black spots punctuate the sides and the Caudal pedicle. These associated with the Iris of the eye give the vernacular name of this fish. The fish of the Bélontidés family have a labyrinth.
The trichogaster trichopterus, more commonly known as the clownfish-to-taches, is a freshwater fish from Southeast Asia. It is an elongated fish, with a spindle -shaped body and relatively short pectoral and anal fins. Its color varies according to age and sex, but it is generally of a metallic blue-green with three distinct black spots: one on the head, one on the dorsal fin and one on the caudal fin. The male is generally more colorful than the female, and it also has a longer and more thorny dorsal fin.
The trichogaster trichopterus is a gregarious fish, which means that it tends to live in a group. It is often seen swimming peacefully in the shallow waters of rivers and lakes, where it feeds mainly on plants and small insects. He is also known for his curious and player behavior, and he often likes to swim around floating objects in the aquarium.
The clown fish-to-three-tache is a relatively easy-to-maintain fish in aquarium, but it needs a space large enough to swim and clean and well oxygenated water. It is also important to maintain a good chemical balance of water, in particular with regard to the pH and the hardness of the water. As it is gregarious, it is recommended to keep it in a group, with at least three individuals to create a stimulating social environment.
In terms of reproduction, trichogaster trichopterus is an oviparous fish, which means that it lays eggs. The male builds a nest by foaming the water with his mouth to protect the eggs, and he is responsible for protecting them until they hatch. After the laying, the young clowning fish-to-taches are completely autonomous and feed on plankton until they are large enough to eat solid foods.
In summary, the trichogaster trichopterus is a colored and gregarious freshwater fish, which is easy to keep in aquarium and appreciated for its curious and playful behavior.
