Amphiprion perideraion (Collier clownfish)
Description
Amphiprion perderaion is a colorful and attractive fish commonly called clown parrot. He is native to the warm and shallow waters of the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, where he lives in coral reefs.
The parrot clown has an elongated and fusiform body, with a rounded head and a small but well-defined mouth. Its color varies from bright yellow to bright red, with black and white lines on the body. The upper part of his head is generally black, while the lower part is white. The clown fish parrot has two back fins, an anal fin, and pelvic and pectoral fins in the shape of a fan.
The parrot clown fish is famous for its symbiotic relationship with sea anemones. The parrots clownfish are mainly feeding on plankton, but they can also feed on small crustaceans and molluscs. Their relationship with sea anemones is mutually beneficial: clowns protect themselves from predators by hiding in the tentacles of anemones, while anemones feed on the organic debris produced by the clownfish.
The parrot-clownfish are gregarious fish, which means that they live in groups.
