Description
Le Barbus Odessa is a freshwater fish belonging to the Cyprinidae family. It is mainly found in rivers and lakes in eastern Europe, especially in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. It is a relatively small fish, generally measuring between 5 and 10 centimeters in length, although some individuals can reach up to 15 centimeters.
The bearded Odessa has an elongated body and slightly compressed laterally, with a relatively large head and medium -sized eyes. Its dorsal fin is long and sharp, while its anal fin is smaller and rounded.
The bearded Odessa has a gray or brown coloring on the top of his body, with dark vertical stripes which allow him to camouflage himself in his natural environment. The underside of his body is lighter, generally white or pale yellow. It also has black spots on the sides and fins, which can vary in intensity depending on the age and sex of the fish.
Le Barbus Odessa is a peaceful fish who lives in benches in the rivers and the lakes of his distribution area. It feeds mainly on small invertebrates and aquatic plants, although it can also eat small fish and crustaceans.
