Bodianus pulchellus (COSSYPHE DE CUBA)

Adult size25 cm

Description

The Bodianus pulchellus is a fish from the Labridae family, commonly known as percopper or blue spots. It is from tropical and subtropical waters of the Pacific Ocean, and it is mainly found in coral reefs.

The Bodianus pulchellus has a compressed body laterally, with an adult size up to about 30 cm in length. Its color is generally brown-reddish, with blue and yellow spots spread over the whole body. The upper part of the body is darker than the lower part, and the head has a black band that runs from the middle of the eyes to the base of the caudal fin. The Bodianus pulchellus also has a pair of dorsal fins, a pair of pectoral fins and an anal fin.

The Bodianus pulchellus is a gregarious fish that lives in groups of several individuals, often with other species of fish. It feeds mainly on small marine animals such as crustaceans and molluscs, which it captures using its sharp and sharp teeth.

The Bodianus pulchellus is a very popular fish in the aquarophilia, due to its beautiful color and its relative ease of maintenance. However, it is important to note that this species needs a large aquarium to be able to flourish, and that it can become aggressive towards other fish if it is confined in a space that is too small. In addition, the Bodianus pulchellus can be sensitive to diseases if water from its aquarium is not maintained in good condition.
