Description

The Centrolabrus Exletus is a fish from the Labridae family, commonly known as "orange -rumble" because of its lively orange color. It measures about 12 cm long and has an elongated and side -compressed body. Its head is wide and flat with fleshy lips and a small mouth. His eyes are located at the base of his dorsal fins and are surrounded by two black bands.

The orange -grread has two dorsal fins, the first comprising 8 to 9 thorny rays and the second having a sail shape with soft rays. Its anal fin is made up of 3 to 4 thorny rays and its caudal fin is bifid. His pelvic fin is absent.

Its color varies from orange -yellow to bright orange -red, with a black strip ranging from the head to the base of the caudal fin. The fins can have black spots or white scratches.

The Orange Grondin lives in the rocky waters of northern seas, especially in the Faroe Islands and Iceland. It feeds mainly on molluscs, crustaceans and small fish. The orange grondin is a lonely and territorial fish, but can be observed in groups during reproduction.

Reproduction takes place from May to July, when the females lay their eggs in rocky cavities or in caves. The eggs are fertilized by males and incubated for about 10 days, until the fry hatch. The fry are about 4 mm long and have a transparent body. They become independent after a few weeks and reach their sexual maturity at the age of 2.

Due to its bright color and its lonely life, the orange -grinding is a popular fish in the aquarophilia. However, its natural habitat is threatened by human activities such as fishing and pollution, which can affect its population.
