Chaetodon punctatofasciatus (Chaetodon punctatoFasciatus)

Chaetodon punctatofasciatus (Chaetodon punctatoFasciatus)

Description

Like all the representatives of this family, it presents the two following morphological characteristics: first a fine mouth lined with brush -shaped teeth or horsehair, where the name, chaetodon, then the presence of scales on the base dorsal and anal fins. This fundamental rusty fish has a multitude of light brown points that form vertical lines in the upper back.

The chaetodon punctatoFasciatus is a fish from the family of the Chaetodontidae, originally from the tropical waters of the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea. It is a colorful and lively fish, often called spotted button fish due to its many black spots on the body and fins. The body of the chaetodon punctatoFasciatus is elongated and compressed laterally, with a caudal bifide fin and relatively large pectoral and pelvic fins. The head of the fish is small and rounded, with globular eyes and a short and pointed beak.

The chaetodon punctatoFasciatus has a variable coloring, but it is generally pale yellow with black bands on the back and sides. Caudal and pectoral fins are often yellow with black spots, while pelvic fins are generally yellow with black lines. The dorsal fin is generally yellow with black spots, although some shapes have a black dorsal fin with yellow spots. The chaetodon punctatoFasciatus can reach an adult size about 15 centimeters in length.

The chaetodon punctatoFasciatus is an omnivorous fish that feeds on small invertebrates, aquatic plants and small fish. He is generally lonely and can be territorial towards his fellows. The chaetodon punctatoFasciatus is frequently used as aquarium fish, due to its beautiful coloring and its active behavior. However, like most of the button fish, he needs a spacious aquarium with many shelters to hide and feel safe.
