Description

The Barbatus Corydoras is a freshwater fish from rivers and streams from South America. He is part of the Callichthyidae family, known as fish-cat. The Corydoras Barbatus is often called Barbé catfish because of its barbels, which give it the appearance of having mustaches. These barbels allow him to find his food in the muddy funds of the rivers.

The Barbatus Corydoras is a small fish, generally measuring between 4 and 6 cm long. Its color varies according to its habitat, but it is generally gray or dark brown with lighter spots on the body. The lower part of his body is often clearer than the rest. The Barbatus Corydoras also has a dark strip that crosses his body, which gives it a striped appearance.

The Corydoras Barbatus is a gregarious fish and is easily reproduced in captivity. Females can lay up to 100 eggs at a time, which they place on leaves and aquatic plants. The eggs generally hatch in a few days and the fry are independent from birth. Barbatus corydoras is a peaceful fish and can be kept in aquarium with other species of fish from its natural environment.

Due to its small size and gregarious behavior, Barbatus Corydoras is a popular fish for domestic aquariums. He is also appreciated for his active behavior and his fast movements. Corydoras Barbatus is a robust fish and can live up to 10 years in captivity if it is provided with appropriate habitat and quality food. It is a little demanding fish in terms of water and can be maintained in an aquarium with moderate temperature water.
