Description

Corydoras Elegans is a freshwater fish from the Callichthyidae family, originally from the warm and shallow waters in South America. It is a small fish, measuring about 6 cm in length once adult, with an elongated body and covered with shiny scales. Its color generally varies between silver gray and dark brown, with darker spots on the fins and along the side line.

Corydoras Elegans is a gregarious fish, which means that it tends to live in groups in nature. In captivity, it is advisable to maintain at least 6 individuals together so that they feel good and behave normally. They need a medium -sized aquarium, with a lot of plants and hiding places to hide and rest. They also appreciate the presence of a furniture substrate to dig and make their nest.

These fish are omnivorous and feed mainly on small crustaceans, insects and plankton in the wild. In captivity, they easily accept a diet composed of pellets, flakes and living or frozen food. They must be fed twice a day with portions adapted to their size.

Corydoras Elegans is a peaceful and sociable fish, which gets along well with most other species of freshwater fish. They can be kept in community aquarium with other peaceful fish of similar size, such as Rasboras, Tetras and Guppys. They also appreciate the company of their fellows and can be kept in a group in an aquarium specially designed for them.

In general, Corydoras Elegans is a robust and easy to keep fish in captivity, provided you provide an adequate environment and an appropriate diet. It is a popular choice for beginners and experienced aquariophiles, thanks to its small size, beauty and peaceful behavior.
