The Cyclopterus Lumpus is a fish from the Cyclopteridae family, commonly known as common rumble or moon fish. It is from the North Atlantic Ocean, the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, and it is also found in the coastal waters of the North West Pacific Ocean.

The cyclopterus lumpus is a rather stocky fish, with a round body and flattened laterally. His skin is covered with small smooth and shiny scales, and he has two pairs of barbels around his mouth, which allow him to search the seabed in search of food. Its color generally varies from dark gray to olive, with lighter spots on the bottom.

The cyclopterus lumpus is an omnivorous fish that feeds mainly on small marine animals, such as crustaceans, molluscs and worms. It can also eat algae and other plants. Common Grondin is a lonely fish that generally lives in cold and shallow waters, near the ribs and rocky bottoms.

The cyclopterus lumpus can reach a length of 30 centimeters and a weight of about one kilogram. Common Rondins are relatively high growth and longevity fish, with a life expectancy of around 15 years. They generally reproduce between months of March and July, depending on climatic conditions and water temperatures. The females lay their eggs on the rocky bottoms, where the males fertilize them. Young people are very vulnerable to predators and require several years to reach their sexual maturity.

The Cyclopterus Lumpus is a fish commonly caught for its tasty and not very fatty flesh. It is often consumed fried, grilled or soup. Common Grondin is also used in the production of fish flour and fish oil. Despite its popularity with fishermen and consumers, the Cyclopterus Lumpus is considered a vulnerable species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, due to overfishing and loss of habitat. It is important to manage common rumble populations in a sustainable manner to preserve this species and its marine ecosystem.
