The Dandrochirus brachyprus fish has a side -cut body, with a wide head and a mouth lined with pointed teeth. Its color generally varies between brown, gray and dark blue, with stains and lighter stripes on the body. Short fin-finishing fish can measure up to 20 centimeters in length, although most individuals measure approximately 15 centimeters.

The Dandrochirus brachyprus fish is an opportunistic predator who feeds on crustaceans, molluscs and small fish. This fish hunting in groups and can be aggressive when hungry.
