Gomphosus varius (Labre-Oiseau)

Description

Gomphosus Varius is a sea fish belonging to the Labridae family. It is commonly known as a clown with elongated beak or elongated beak fish. It is a tall fish, which can measure up to 40 cm in length. Gomphosus varius has an elongated and lateral compressed shape, with a sharp muzzle and an elongated beak which gives it a particular appearance. Its color varies from dark blue to the back of the body to a shiny white at the front, with black and white zigzag patterns along the body. Gomphosus varius is generally considered a lonely fish, but it can sometimes be seen in a group of some individuals. It feeds mainly on small fish and crustaceans which it captures thanks to its pointed beak. The Gomphosus Varius is native to the warm and shallow waters of the coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Ocean, where it can be observed in the herbaria and the mangroves. It is a popular fish in the aquarophilia because of its beauty and its relatively peaceful character. However, it is important to note that Gomphosus Varius can become aggressive towards other fish in a confined aquarium, especially if it feels threatened or if it does not have enough space to move.
