Hyphessobrycon bifasciatus (Yellow tetra)

Hyphessobrycon bifasciatus (Yellow tetra)

Description

Hyphessobrycon bifasciatus fish is a freshwater fish from rivers and southern American rivers. It is commonly known as scarlet or emerald fishing fish due to its lively scarlet color and the brilliant blue strip that crosses its fins. Its average adult size is around 2.5 centimeters, although some specimens can reach up to 3.8 centimeters.

The body of the Hyphessobrycon Bifasciatus fish is elongated and compressed laterally, with a relatively small head and a sharp mouth. Its dorsal fin is rounded and its caudal fin is in the shape of a V. The basic color of its body is scarlet red, with a shiny blue strip which crosses its fins and ends in point on its caudal fin. This blue band is bordered with black on its side edges, which gives it an even more distinctive appearance.

Hyphessobrycon bifasciatus fish is a gregarious fish, which means that it prefers to live in groups rather than alone. They are generally peaceful with other species of fish, although they can sometimes become territorial with other angels of the same species. They are suitable for freshwater life and are not able to survive sea water.

In captivity, hyphessobrycon bifasciatus fish is considered an easy -to -maintain fish and can be maintained in a community aquarium with other peaceful species. They need a well planted aquarium with many places to hide and free swimming areas. They also need good filtration of water and a varied diet including fish pellets, living and frozen foods, as well as raw vegetables. Due to their small size, they are not suitable for too large aquariums and should not be maintained with larger fish that could consider them as food.
