Description
Hyphessobrycon Herbertaxelrodi fish, commonly known as tetra neon, is a freshwater fish native to South America. It is small, about 2.5 centimeters long, and has a silver color with blue and orange spots on the body. The neon tetra is very popular in aquariophilia because of its bright color and its ease of maintenance.
The neon tetra is a gregarious fish, which means that he likes to live in a group. In captivity, it is recommended to maintain at least six individuals together so that they can feel safe and comfortable. They need a well planted aquarium with hiding places and shaded areas to rest and hide. They are quite peaceful and are well suitable for most freshwater communities, but you must avoid putting them with larger or more aggressive fish that could harass or injure them.
The neon tetra is an omnivorous fish, which means that it feeds on both plants and small animals. In captivity, it can be nourished with a diet in flakes or pellets for aquarium fish, but it is also important to give it live or frozen food such as artemias, mysis or vase worms to ensure a diet balanced food.
