Julidochromis marlieri (Julie de Marlier, JAUMIER JULIDO)
Description
Julidochromis Marlieri is a freshwater fish from the Tanganyika lakes region in Africa. It is a small fish, generally measuring between 5 and 6 centimeters in length, although some specimens can reach 8 centimeters. The Julidochromis Marlieri has an elongated and compressed form laterally, with a dorsal fin which extends almost over the entire length of the body. Its color is generally dark or black brown, with irregular white or yellow spots on the body and fins.
Julidochromis Marlieri is a gregarious fish, which means that it tends to live in groups in nature. They like to hide in crevices and rocky cavities, where they feed mainly on shrimp, snails and small insects. The males and females of the Marlieri julidochromis are generally very different in appearance, with males with more bright colors and fins larger than females.
In aquarium, the Julidochromis Marlieri is a popular fish because of its small size and its peaceful behavior. They need a well planted aquarium with hiding places to feel safe, and it is important to maintain clean and well oxygenated water. Julidochromis Marlieri is generally compatible with other peaceful fish from the Tanganyika lakes region, although some specimens can become territorial with other fish from the same species. In general, they are considered easy to maintain in aquarium, which makes it a popular choice for beginners aquariophiles.
