Adult size10 cm

Description

The Laboides Phtirophagus, also known as a small bench nettoyeur, is a small fish from the labridae family who lives in the warm and shallow waters of the Indian and peaceful oceans. It is about 10 centimeters long and has a light gray-blue color with darker spots on the body.

The phtirophagus labroids feeds by feeding on the parasites and dead skins of larger fish, as well as small crustaceans and algae. It is often seen in coral reefs, where it moves quickly and thanks to its speed, it can feed on the parasites and dead skin of the larger fish that are hidden in the crevices and the cracks of the reefs.

The phtirophagus labroids is very social and often gathers in large benches to eat. It is known for its ability to communicate with other fish-tortoyers thanks to tail movements and sounds issued by their Swimbladder.

PHTirophagus labroids is an important fish for the ecosystem of coral reefs, because it helps maintain the health of other fish by ridding them of their parasites. However, it is also threatened by the overexploitation of fishing, pollution and the destruction of natural habitats.
