Lepomis punctatus (Point Sun pole)

Lepomis punctatus (Point Sun pole)

Description

The Punctatus lepomis is a fish from the Centrarchidae family, which also includes species known as fish, Achigans and poles-spol. It is commonly called Crapet Arlequin because of its bright and brilliant colors. The Arlequin Crapet has an elongated shape and a body covered with small scales. Its head is rounded and its mouth has barbels, which allows it to easily capture the insects and the small fish it feeds.

The Arlequin Crapet can reach a length of 30 centimeters and a weight of around 500 grams. Her dress is mainly blue and yellow, with black and orange spots spread over her whole body. This combination of colors allows it to camouflage itself in its natural environment, which is generally made up of aquatic plants and floating vegetation.

The Arlequin Crapet is mainly a freshwater fish, but it can also live in healthy waters. It is found in lakes, rivers and ponds in the eastern United States and Canada, as well as in some regions of Mexico. It prefers calm and shallow waters, and it is often found in marshes and wetlands.
