Description

Leporinus Grani is a freshwater fish that belongs to the Anostomidae family. He is from the Amazon and his tributaries in South America. This fish has a distinctive appearance, with an elongated body and laterally compressed, a protractile mouth and strong teeth. The Leporinus Grani is generally dark green to gray on the top, with lighter spots on the sides and a dark strip along the side line. His chest and belly are white or yellow, and he has black dots on his head and fins.

The Leporinus Grani is a sociable fish that lives in groups in the shallow and slow waters of the Amazon rivers and lakes. It feeds mainly on aquatic and invertebrate plants, although it can also feed on eggs and small fish. Leporinus Grani is a determined reproductive fish, which means that it reaches sexual maturity at a specific age and that its reproduction is seasonal. The female lays her eggs in a cavity dug in the substrate, where they are protected and fertilized by the male.

Leporinus granti is a popular aquarophilia fish, due to its beautiful color and its sociable behavior. However, it can be aggressive towards smaller species and must be held with fish of similar size in a good size aquarium. Leporinus granti is also a edible fish and is sometimes caught for human consumption.
