Nannocharax parvus (Large strip nannocharax)
Description
Nannocharax Parvus fish is a freshwater fish from West Africa. It is a small fish, measuring about 2.5 cm in length for adult males and 3.5 cm for females. The body of the Parvus nannocharax is elongated and compressed laterally, with a small and flattened head. Its color varies from light gray to dark brown, with darker longitudinal strips along the body.
Nannocharax parvus is an omnivorous fish that feeds mainly on algae and invertebrates such as insect larvae and molluscs. It is generally lonely and can be found in the shallow and calm waters of rivers and lakes.
The Parvus Nannocharax is a very peaceful and calm fish that does not cause problems in community aquariums. However, he can be territorial towards his fellows and can be agitated if larger or more aggressive fish are approaching his personal space.
Nannocharax parvus is an oviparous fish, that is to say that it lays eggs rather than giving birth to small. The female generally lays between 20 and 30 eggs which it places on the submerged leaves of aquatic plants.
