Roeboides dayi (Glass tetra)
Description
The Roeboides Dayi fish, also known as the Day-Cat fish, is a freshwater fish native to the hydrographic basins in southern Mexico and northern Guatemala. It is a relatively small fish, generally measuring between 5 and 10 cm in length.
Roeboides Dayi fish has an elongated and rounded shape, with a wide head and a protractile mouth. Her dress is generally brown or gray, with dark spots on the back and sides. Day-to-day catfish also has a distinctive white line along the lower part of its body.
Day-to-day catfish is a gregarious fish, which means that it tends to live in groups with other individuals of its species. It is mainly nocturnal and spends the day hidden in caves and crevices in the rocks. Day-to-day catfish feeds mainly on insects, small crustaceans and larvae, which it captures using its protractile mouth to catch its prey.
Roeboides Dayi fish is a relatively common fish in its natural habitat, although it is threatened by the loss of its habitat due to the development of rivers and the construction of dams. It is also sometimes captured to be sold as a pet in aquarophilia stores.
Due to its small size and gregarious behavior, Day's catfish is a fish adapted to the aquarophilia. It is generally easy to maintain in a well -equipped aquarium, but it needs a habitat that looks like it, with caves and crevices to hide. Day-to-day catfish is also sensitive to poor quality water, so it is important to maintain an adequate filtration level and regularly change water from the aquarium.
