Description

The Xenotoca Eiseni fish is a freshwater fish belonging to the cichlid family. He is from the rivers and the lakes of Mexico, where he is commonly called the "devil's fish" because of his bright red color and his black -striped fins.

The body of the Xenotoca Eiseni is elongated and compressed laterally, with a wide head and a protractile mouth. The color of her body is generally bright red, with black spots on fins and scales. The pelvic and anal fins are generally black, with red bands, which gives it a distinctive appearance. Males generally have a brighter coloring than females.

The Xenotoca Eiseni is a lonely fish that tends to live in benches in the rivers and lakes of Mexico. It feeds mainly on small crustaceans, insects and aquatic plants. Males are generally more aggressive than females, and they often engage in fights for territories and sexual partners.

The Xenotoca Eiseni is an oviparous fish, which means that it lays eggs rather than giving birth to young. The females lay their eggs in cavities dug in the muddy funds of rivers and lakes, and males take care of the protection and incubation of eggs. The little ones hatch after about a week and are quickly independent.

The Xenotoca Eiseni is a popular aquarophilia fish because of its bright color and its unique behavior. However, it can be difficult to keep in captivity due to its specific food requirements and its tendency to be aggressive towards other fish. Due to these challenges, it is generally recommended that beginner aquariophiles avoid adding the Xenotoca Eiseni to their aquarium.
