Fish and snails

Symptoms

They are relatively little attack the leaves and stems. The fish eat the young shoots, the tip and the edge of the leaves, especially if they are finely cut. The snails sometimes make small holes in the leaves. Healthy and growing plants support these damage. Insects aphids, red spiders and white flies can colonize the emerged parts.

Cause (s)

A too dry atmosphere.

Remedy

Remedy: use only mechanical or biological means, insecticides being harmful to fish. • If the attack is moderate, crush the aphids and red spiders between the fingers, remove the very attacked parts. Give the aphids to eat with fish, viviparous and oviparous, which particularly appreciate these parasites. Press the stems attacked in the water, turn over the floating leaves and plunge them several times to rid them of aphids. • If the attack is important, introduce into the middle of natural enemies of these parasites (the aquarium must be closed!). The aphids will be the prey of ladybugs or larvae of flies, red spiders will be eaten by predatory spiders. You can also introduce parasitic mushrooms to get rid of insects: ask advice from the manager of your aquarophilia store.
