Description

Plant floating freely on the surface of the water, consisting of a rosette of a bluish and densely hairy green leaves, under which in which tufts of fine and branched roots are inserted which plunge into the water. The sheet is slightly fleshy, spatuliform cuneiform. Avoid too much warming of the ambient air by the light of the lamps. The window must be tilted covering the aquarium.

The pistia stratiotes aquarium plant is an aquatic plant commonly known as water lettuce or floating lettuce. It is a floating leafy plant that can be easily found in ponds, lakes and fresh rivers. The pistia stratiotes plant has star -shaped leaves which measure approximately 3 to 5 cm in diameter and which are arranged in rosette on the surface of the water. The plant also produces white or yellow flowers in small balls which are barely visible.

The Pistia Stratiotes plant is often used in aquariums to provide shade and freshness for fish and other aquatic plants. It can also serve as a refuge for small fish and fry. The plant is easy to maintain and requires little care, but it can quickly spread and invade the aquarium if it is not controlled. It is important to keep it under control by regularly removing dead leaves and limiting its growth by cutting it regularly.
