Acipenser baeri (Siberia sturgeon)
Description
The Acissenger Baeri fish is a freshwater fish belonging to the Ecipseridae family. It is also known as Sturgeon de Baer or Sturgeon Blanc. It is an imposing fish, up to a length of 3.5 meters and a weight of 300 kg. The body of the fish is covered with ribbed great scales, giving it a rough appearance. Its color is dark gray to silver gray, with metallic reflections on the scales. Its head is wide and flat, with a mouth lined with barbels.
Acisserer Baeri fish is mainly found in rivers and lakes in Central Asia and North America. It is considered a predatory fish, feeding mainly on fish, crabs and molluscs. He is able to go up the rivers to spawn, making it a migratory fish.
Acisserer Baeri fish is threatened with extinction due to overfishing, pollution and destruction of its natural habitat. Because of its economic value, it is often chased for its eggs, known as Caviar, which are considered a luxury dish. Consequently, many populations of Acisserer Baeri fish have been seriously affected, which led to a decrease in their number.
Despite efforts to protect this species, the situation remains worrying. The conservation programs aim to restore the populations of Acisserer Baeri fish by making them threatened in controlled tanks and by relaxing them in nature once they have reached sufficient size. In addition, fishing management measures are set up to limit overfishing and protect the natural habitat of the fish.
