Betta splendens imbellis (Peaceful betta)
Description
The Betta Splendens Imbellis fish is an aquarium fish commonly known as Siam fighter or Betta. It is from shallow and warm waters in the Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam region. Bettas are known for their territorial behavior and their ability to "fight" with other individuals of their species.
The Betta Imbellis has an elongated and slender shape, with a dorsal fin and a wide and fringed caudal fin. The color of their body generally varies between red, blue, green, yellow and purple, although many other colors are also possible. The Betta Imbellis also has fleshy lips and pectoral fins which allow it to keep in place in the shallow waters of its natural habitat.
Bettas are solitary fish by nature, and it is therefore recommended not to put them in the company of other fish in an aquarium. They need sufficient space to swim and move, as well as hot water (between 78 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit) and adequate filtration to maintain a healthy environment. Bettas are also animals very sensitive to water quality changes, so it is important to regularly clean the aquarium and change water regularly.
In terms of food, the Bettas are carnivores who mainly feed on small crustaceans and insects in their natural habitat. In an aquarium, they can be fed with pellets specially designed for Bettas, as well as frozen or lively foods such as artemias or daphnia. It is important not to overcome the bettas, because they tend to have a voracious appetite and can easily become obese if they are given too much to eat.
In conclusion, the Betta Splendens Imbellis is a fascinating and attractive aquarium fish, recognized for its territorial behavior and its bright colors. Although it is relatively easy to maintain, it needs an environment suitable for keeping itself healthy and prospering.
