Brachydanio rerio (Danio Rério)
Description
Danio Zébra
Brachydanio RERIO fish is an aquarium fish commonly known as "Danio Zébré". It is a small fish from the Cyprinidae family, originally from South Asia. It is about 5 cm long and has a life expectancy of about 5 years.
The Danio Zébré is recognizable by its white and black longitudinal bands that cover its entire body. These bands are more visible in males, which also have a more developed dorsal fin than females. The Danio Zébré is generally a calm and harmless fish, but can be a little shy and must therefore be maintained in a well planted aquarium to provide it with hiding places.
Danio Zébré is an omnivorous fish and needs a balanced diet including pellets, flakes and living foods such as artemias and daphnia. He also likes to nibble the salad leaves and raw vegetables. Danio Zébré is easy to feed and maintain, making it an excellent choice for beginners in aquarophilia.

Reproduction
With a 20l aquarium, place a fence on the bottom, so that the eggs, once laid, fall below. A little java foam and floating plants will give an environment conducive to the growth of fry. Place the female first in the aquarium as soon as it is ready to lay, then add two males the next evening. One of the males will be chosen by the female for fertilizer. The eggs are fertilized and fall towards the bottom of the aquarium. The laying can last an hour or two and give 150 to 500 eggs. Once the laying is finished, remove the parents. 1 to 2 days later, the eggs cleared. We can nourish the fry with microscopic food for ten days, and then artemias or food for fry.
