Chromileptis altivelis (Grace Kelly grouper)

Adult size60 cm

Description

The Chromileptis Altuteslis is a fish from the Cichlidae family, originally from the fresh waters of the rivers of South America. It is a medium -sized fish, measuring about 10 centimeters in length. Its most notable characteristic is its bright and spectacular color, with silver reflections on the body and red and yellow vertical strips on the sides.

Chromileptis Altuteslis has an elongated and slender shape, with a sharp head and well developed dorsal and caudal fins. His mouth is located below the body, which allows him to feed by performing scratching movements on the bottom of the water. It feeds mainly on small invertebrates, crustaceans and aquatic plants.

Chromileptis Altuteslis is a lonely and territorial fish, which generally lives alone in cavities or crevices of the rocks along the rivers. It is very territorial and can become aggressive towards other fish if they approach its territory. During the reproduction season, the male builds a nest of sand or gravel to accommodate the eggs of the female, which he fertilizes and protects until the flooding of the fry.

Chromileptis Altuteslis is a popular fish in aquariums, due to its bright color and interesting behavior. However, it can be difficult to keep in captivity, because it needs a large aquarium with rocks and cavities to hide, as well as quality water and diet adapted to its nutritional needs.
