Corydoras haraldshultzi (Corydoras Haraldrashultzi)

Adult size8 cm

Description

Corydoras Haraldshultzi is a fish belonging to the Callichthyidae family, known to be one of the many species of freshwater fish. He is from the rivers of the Amazonian basin in South America, where he lives in shallow and muddy waters.

The Corydoras Haraldshultzi has an elongated body and laterally compressed, with a light gray-green color on top and a pale white belly. It measures on average between 4 and 5 centimeters long and has well visible scales throughout the body. His head is small and triangular, with two big eyes which allow him to see in all directions. Its mouth is located below the body and has small sharp teeth used to catch and shred the food.

The Corydoras Haraldshultzi is a gregarious and peaceful fish, which means that it lives in a group and that it is not aggressive towards other fish. In captivity, it is recommended to keep it in the bench of at least six individuals so that it feels safe and well in its skin. It is also important to provide him with a spacious and well planted aquarium, with a soft substrate and gray areas so that he can hide and rest.

The Corydoras Haraldshultzi is an omnivorous fish that feeds mainly on small crustaceans, worms, molluscs and algae in its natural habitat. In captivity, he readily accepts a varied diet composed of pellets for catfish, living (such as artemias) and vegetables (such as lettuce or cabbage leaves). It is important to give it to eat small regular quantities to prevent it from becoming obese and that it does not develop health problems.

Corydoras Haraldshultzi is a fish that is easily reproduced in captivity if the living conditions are optimal. The laying generally takes place on a flat surface, such as a plant sheet or a piece of glass, and the eggs are fertilized by the male which brings them by protecting them from its pectoral fins.
