Forcipiger flavissimus (Chelmon with long beak)
Description
Body strongly compressed laterally pure yellow color, pelvic included. The head has a white triangle in its lower part and a second gray-black in its upper part, which extends to the very tapered muzzle. Note a black ocelle on the posterior part of the anal fin.
The Forcipiger Flavissimus is a tropical fish native to the warm waters of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. It is also known as golden gold or golden fire fish due to its shape like a tree leaf or a hedgehog, with many sharp thorns covering its body. The Flavissimus Flavissimus is generally golden yellow, with black spots on the head and back.
The Forcipiger Flavissimus is a lonely and nocturnal fish, which feeds mainly on small crustaceans and invertebrates. It can reach a size of 20 cm in length, although most specimens measure approximately 15 cm.
The Flavissimus Flavissimus is often considered an ornamental fish due to its beautiful color and its unique shape. It is popular with aquarium enthusiasts, although its lonely and nocturnal behavior can make it difficult to maintain captivity with other species.
Due to its beauty and its rarity, the Flavissimus Flavissimus is considered a endangered species and is protected by the laws on fishing and the conservation of species. Unfortunately, it is often accidentally taken in fishing nets intended for other species, which contributes to its disappearance in nature.
