Hemigrammopetersius caudalis (Congo tetra with yellow)
Description
Peaceful gregarious fish, lends itself to cohabit with peaceful species in community aquarium.
They must be held in groups of 5 or more individuals, otherwise it is fearful. He eats living food and flakes.
The Hemigrammopetersius Caudalis fish is a freshwater fish native to rivers and streams from Central Africa. It is a fairly small fish, generally less than 10 cm long, with an elongated and rounded body. Its color generally varies from dark gray to dark brown, with irregular vertical stripes on the side of the body. Its head is wide and rather flat, with round eyes and fleshy lips. Its tail is also wide and rounded, with irregular scales and a bifid point.
The Hemigrammopetersius Caudalis fish is mainly nourished by small crustaceans, insect larvae and aquatic plants. It is often found in shallow waters and herbaceous areas of rivers and streams, where it hides in plants to protect itself from predators. It is a gregarious fish, which often lives in groups with other individuals of its species.
The Hemigrammopetersius Caudalis fish is a relatively rare and little known fish outside Central Africa. He was described for the first time in 1901 by the famous German naturalist Wilhelm Peters, who gave him his scientific name. We know little about his biology and his behaviors, but we think that he is threatened by the degradation of his natural habitat, caused by human activity.
