Description

The Holacanthus Ciliaris fish, also known as the Imperial Angel or Golden Angel, is a marine fish belonging to the Pomacanthidae family. It is from coral reefs of the Caribbean and the east coast of North America, where it is often seen in shallow waters near the coast.

The Holacanthus ciliar fish has an elongated body and laterally compressed, with a rounded shape and smooth scales. Its coloring varies from pale yellow to dark blue, with blue or purple spots on the fins and the belly, as well as a blue strip on the eyes. Its caudal fin is forked, with yellow and blue blades.

Imperial Angel Fish generally reaches a length of 30 to 35 centimeters, although larger individuals can reach 40 centimeters long. Males are generally larger than females.

Imperial Angel Fish is a gregarious fish, which means that it tends to live in a group with other fish from its species. He is also territorial and can become aggressive towards other fish if he feels threatened.

Imperial Angel Fish is mainly nourished by molluscs, echinoderms and crustaceans which it finds on the seabed. He uses his comb -shaped teeth to scrape the surface of the rocks and corals to find his food.

Imperial Angel Fish is a protected fish in certain places, as it is often captured to be sold in domestic aquariums. However, it is also threatened by the destruction of its natural habitat, in particular the loss of coral reefs due to climate change and human activity.
