Myripristis murdjan (Red)

Adult size30 cm

Description

Murdjan myritis fish is a salt water fish belonging to the Holocentridae family. It is mainly found in tropical and subtropical waters of the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. It has an elongated and tapered body, with a pointed head and smooth scales. Its color varies from light brown to dark brown, with dark longitudinal strips on the body and black dots on the fins. Murdjan myritis can reach a maximum size of around 50 cm, although most individuals measure between 20 and 30 cm.

Myritis Murdjan is a gregarious fish, which means that it lives in important groups with other individuals of its species. It is often found in coral reefs, where it feeds mainly on small crustaceans and molluscs. It is also known for its ability to capture larger prey using its sharp and sharp teeth to bite and maintain its grip.

Myritis Murdjan is a protected fish in many regions due to its vulnerability in the face of overfishing and destruction of coral reefs. Unfortunately, it is often accidentally taken in fishing nets intended for other species, which contributes to its decline. Due to its popularity with aquariophiles, it is also often captured and exported for the aquariology, which can also endanger its populations.
