Description

This very powerful swimmer has sometimes aggressive intraspecific relationships which can cause deep wounds with their caudal scalpels. Interspecific behavior is excellent.

Naso Lituratus fish, also known as Naso-surgeon fish, is a marine fish that lives in the warm and shallow waters of coral reefs of the Pacific and the Indian Ocean. It is recognizable by its large size - it can measure up to 1.5 meters long - and its bright blue -green color, dotted with white and black spots. The Naso-surgeon fish is a lonely and territorial fish, which feeds mainly on molluscs and crustaceans which it hunts by digging in the sand with its mouth. It is also known for its ability to defend yourself using its ventral fins - hence its name "chirurgish fish" - to strike intruders and predators.

Naso surgeon is a fascinating fish to observe, due to its territorial behavior and its bright color. It is also popular with divers because of its impressive size and its presence in coral reefs, which offer an ideal setting for scuba diving. However, it is important to note that the Naso surgeon is a protected animal in certain places, and it is forbidden to capture or disturb it in its natural habitat. If you are a diver and you are lucky, take the time to observe this magnificent fish in its natural environment, but do it with respect and without disturbing it.
