Phenacogrammus deheyni (Tetra du Congo de Deheyn)
Description
Phenacogrammmus Deheyni fish is a freshwater fish from the West African region. It is characterized by its relatively small size, about 4 cm, and its gray-brown color with darker spots on the body and fins.
The Phenacogrammus Deheyni is a gregarious fish, which means that it tends to live in groups. It feeds mainly on small insects and crustaceans which it finds in its natural habitat, which is generally shallow waters with many aquatic plants.
The Phenacogrammus Deheyni has a fairly long reproduction period, about six months, during which the females lay hundreds of eggs which are then fertilized by the males. The eggs hatch about a week later and the fry begin to feed on small insects.
The Phenacogrammus Deheyni is a very adaptable fish and can adapt to many types of habitats, but it prefers shallow waters with many aquatic plants. It is also able to survive under low oxygenation conditions, which makes it particularly resistant to pollution.
